Victoria Showcases Global Innovation at the 2025 Chunhui Cup – Melbourne Qualifier

Study Melbourne was proud to support the 20th Chunhui Cup Global Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, held on Thursday 4 September 2025.

Jointly organised by China’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology, it has celebrated over 4,000 international projects and fostered global innovation networks across 12 international divisions since its inception in 2006.

This year’s Melbourne Qualifier highlighted the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Chinese international students in Australia - with projects spanning technology, sustainability, healthcare, education, and cultural innovation - connecting talented students with mentors, investors and industry leaders.

The the top six project finalists presented their ideas to leaders from government, academia, and industry.

The award ceremony also featured congratulatory remarks from distinguished leaders, including Mr. Xinwen Fang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne; Cr. Nicholas Reece, Lord Mayor of Melbourne; Mr. Timothy Chau, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney; Professor Michael Wesley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement) at the University of Melbourne; Distinguished Professor Qing-Long Han, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Quality) at Swinburne University of Technology and Ms Caroline Hartnett, Director of Study Melbourne.

Speakers reaffirmed Victoria’s commitment to building innovation capacity, supporting international students in their studies, careers, and entrepreneurial journeys and enhancing Victoria’s reputation as a world-class destination for education and innovation.

Strengthening Victoria’s international education ties with Malaysia
