Study Melbourne recently held its first-ever Open Day events in Mexico City, on 24 March, and Santiago Chile on 3 April. These events provided platforms to engage with prospective students, school counsellors, education agents, scholarship organisations and institutional partners.

The Open Days showcased Victoria as a premier study destination known for its academic excellence, industry-linked learning opportunities and comprehensive student support. They were organised by the Study Melbourne team, in close collaboration with Austrade, the Australian Embassies and a range of local partners.

In Mexico, the Open Day commenced with an exclusive breakfast for international school counsellors, held at the residence of Australian Ambassador. The day continued with presentations from Victorian institutions, including:

  • Monash University
  • The University of Melbourne
  • Swinburne University of Technology
  • Australian Catholic University.

Support from key Mexican funding bodies—FIDERH, FUNED, and the ANZMEX Business Council—added further value.  Attendees were provided with insights into scholarship and financing options for study in Australia.

In Chile, the event began with a morning session tailored for counsellors from some of Santiago’s most prestigious schools, including Santiago College, The Grange School, and Colegio del Verbo Divino. The afternoon program featured comprehensive briefings from Austrade, Study Melbourne, and ANID Chile. Pathways for postgraduate study in Victoria and associated funding programs were outlined.

A highlight of the Chile Open Day was a panel discussion. The panel featured representatives from The University of Melbourne and Australian Catholic University, as well as an inspiring alumni journey testimony by Gabriela Warner, Monash University graduate.
