Study Melbourne joins sector colleagues at the ITEC26 International Education Symposium

Study Melbourne was delighted to join sector colleagues at the ITEC26 International Education Symposium in Brisbane on 3 June 2026.

Representing the Victorian Government, Caroline Hartnett, Director International Education and Study Melbourne, highlighted Victoria’s strengths as an international education destination as part of a panel discussion Competing on Place – How Australian Cities and Regions Win Global Students.

Caroline emphasised how student experience is central to destination appeal, with Study Melbourne differentiating its destination marketing by focussing on student experience and Victorian Government support for services provided through the Study Melbourne Hub. Alongside rankings, students and families consider safety, affordability, employability, community connection, post-study opportunities and a welcoming environment.

The panel also explored how larger cities with a strong global profile can serve as a gateway to broader consideration of regional campuses, and how interest in regional study can grow with clear communications about affordability, lifestyle and job outcomes.

Study Melbourne’s participation reinforced Victoria’s commitment to working closely with providers to promote a world-class, student-centred education offering.

Strengthening Victoria’s higher education ties with Ho Chi Minh City

Study Melbourne recently supported a high-level education delegation from the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), one of Vietnam’s top university groups. The delegation was in Melbourne for a week-long knowledge exchange program, facilitated by TET Education Group, visiting 5 Victorian universities: the University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT University, Swinburne University of Technology and Deakin University.
