Victoria continues to reinforce its global reputation as a leading destination for international education, with a strong focus on the broader student experience.

On 2 & 10 June 2026, Study Melbourne hosted the ABC Challenge Global Reach delegation at the Study Melbourne Hub in Hardware Lane.

The visit highlighted a critical dimension: the support ecosystem that enables students to feel welcome, connected and empowered to succeed.

Delegates were briefed on the role of Study Melbourne in supporting students beyond the classroom, with presentations and discussions exploring services and programs delivered through the Study Melbourne Hub, aimed at enhancing wellbeing, employability, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.

This approach ensures international students are supported not only academically by institutions, but also socially and professionally—helping them build confidence, develop networks, and engage meaningfully with the Victorian community.

A key theme was the importance of collaboration. The engagement demonstrated how government, education providers, industry, and community partners work together to create a cohesive and supportive environment for international students.

These partnerships underpin Victoria’s success as a study destination, enabling coordinated delivery of services that improve student outcomes and enhance the overall experience.

For the ABC Challenge delegates, the visit provided valuable insights into the factors that distinguish leading international education destinations. Importantly, it reinforced that a study destination extends beyond choosing an institution to becoming part of a city and community committed to student success.

The discussions highlighted how a strong sense of belonging, combined with access to support services and professional opportunities, can significantly shape the international student journey.

Victoria’s approach positions international education as a long-term investment in people, global talent, and international relationships. By fostering inclusive communities and delivering targeted student support, Study Melbourne continues to strengthen Victoria’s standing as a destination of choice for students worldwide.
