Congratulations to the Colombian students selected for master’s and doctoral studies in Australia!

Celebrations were held in June in Bogotá and Medellín to honour the recipients of this prestigious funding. The events were hosted by the Australian Embassy in Colombia, in collaboration with Study Melbourne.

Students were selected by COLFUTURO, a Colombian non-profit organisation. They provide funding for Colombian citizens enrolling in Master's and PhD programs abroad. Australian Ambassador, Anna Chrisp, warmly welcomed these outstanding students to #TeamAustralia.

The event also featured Professor Seetal Dodd from Deakin University, who has been the only Australian academic on COLFUTURO's selection committee for the past two years. Additionally, Natalia Piedrahita, Senior Strategic Advisor from Study Melbourne, provided valuable advice to scholars of the committee. Nathalia Plested from RMIT University and James Guzman from Monash University also attended the reception to warmly welcome the new students.

In the 2024 call, 282 Colombian students were selected to study in Australia. Of these, 112 chose Victorian universities, making Victoria the top destination in Australia for COLFUTURO beneficiaries.

Victorian university programs are highly regarded in Colombia, attracting top-performing students.

COLFUTURO's next call will open in January 2025. Interested students can apply from anywhere, including Australia. Ideally, applicants should already have an offer letter when applying for the funding. For more information, please visit the COLFUTURO website.

We are thrilled to see Colombian talent choosing Australia for their education. Welcome and best wishes for success on this exciting academic journey.
