Maitri 2025–26 Grants, Scholarships and Fellowships – Applications Now Open

The Maitri program is designed to strengthen Australia–India collaboration across business, education, research, culture, and community engagement. For the 2025–26 round, more than $5 million in funding is available to support projects that deliver practical, high-impact outcomes.

Opportunities for Industry

The program is seeking proposals that:

  • Build business literacy and connections between Australia and India, including pathways for SMEs and First Nations businesses.
  • Support policy dialogue on shared economic and social priorities.
  • Deepen people-to-people and community engagement through the Indian Australian diaspora.
  • Drive collaboration in key growth sectors such as clean energy, education and skills, agritech, tourism, and sports.
  • Strengthen cultural and creative industry links, including through major institutions.

Who can apply

Applications are open to:

  • Businesses
  • Non-governmental organisations
  • Academic institutions
  • Consortia of partners

Applicants must have an Australian ABN and meet DFAT’s due diligence requirements.

Assessment criteria

Successful proposals will demonstrate:

  • Clear contribution to the objectives and outcomes of the program.
  • Capacity to deliver efficiently and effectively.
  • Long-term impact and sustainability beyond Maitri funding.
  • Innovation and value for money.

Key dates

  • Applications open: 16 September 2025
  • Concept notes close: 5.00pm AEDT, 4 November 2025
  • Outcomes announced: December 2025 – January 2026
  • Project delivery begins: April 2026
