On Monday 16 March 2026, Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, the Hon Danny Pearson MP, attended Deakin University’s Burwood campus for the launch of their Transnational Education (TNE) Week.

Supported through the Yes to International Students Fund, Deakin University was awarded funding to deliver a project aimed at expanding their TNE offerings in key international markets and to support capacity building for selected education partners.

In total, 30 delegates from 17 partner institutions travelled to Victoria from China, Vietnam, Turkey, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and India for two engagement and academic enrichment programs. This included workshops and interactive dialogues on TNE, campus visits and meetings with key stakeholders.

Minister Pearson delivered the opening address at the event to welcome Deakin’s education partners, highlight the objectives of the Yes to International Students Fund, and outline the Victorian Government’s ongoing commitment to transnational education and Victoria’s international education sector more broadly.
