Students posing for a Hockey Event

As part of the Study Melbourne Inclusion Program (SMIP) 2025, Hockey Victoria has been running a five-week introductory hockey program across six partner hockey clubs throughout Victoria.

Each week throughout September, students learnt the fundamentals of hockey, developing new skills, and building connections — both on and off the field. Beyond the sport itself, the program has created a vibrant sense of community, inclusion, and belonging for international students in Victoria.

A highlight of the program was when Hockey Victoria welcomed international students to experience the excitement of the National Hockey One match at the State Sports Centre on Friday, October 17th.

The initiative has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with enthusiastic participation from over 300 international students representing diverse backgrounds.
