Study Melbourne brought together Victorian and Chinese education, government and industry leaders at the Victoria Skills and Industry Exchange Reception in Shanghai on 23 September 2026.

Held alongside WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the reception showcased Victoria’s strengths in vocational education, applied skills and industry-connected training. Around 30 representatives attended, including leaders from 7 Victorian TAFEs and dual-sector universities, 12 Chinese vocational institutions, and 5 industry representatives.

The event also recognised the 13 Victorian apprentices and 7 experts representing Australia at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Victorian education providers shared examples of their capabilities and approaches, which was followed by targeted introductions and networking with Chinese partners.

The reception created a platform for practical conversations on skills exchange, and opportunities to explore new institutional partnerships and industry collaboration.
