Before you head outdoors, make sure you’ve got these essential apps on your phone. They’ll help you stay informed, prepared, and safe – wherever you are.

Beachsafe App – Surf Life Saving Australia

Australia has some of the best beaches in the world, and the best way to enjoy them is by staying safe. Always swim between the red and yellow flags, where lifeguards can help you. The Beachsafe app provides detailed information about every Australian beach – from patrol status and facilities to hazards, weather, swell, and tide.

VicEmergency App – Emergency Management Victoria

The official Victorian Government app for community information and warnings for all types of emergencies in Victoria. Includes alerts for fire, flood, storm, earthquake, tsunami, weather warnings, shark sightings, beach closures, and more. Create a watch zone to receive location-specific alerts.

Weather App – Bureau of Meteorology

Prevent heat-related health problems by keeping cool and staying hydrated during hot weather. Plan ahead and check in with others. Stay up to date with weather forecasts and warnings – hourly and 7-day forecasts, radar, and alerts – wherever you are.

Emergency+ App – Australia’s Emergency Services

The Emergency+ app uses GPS functionality built into smartphones to help Triple Zero (000) callers provide critical location details required to mobilise emergency services.
