A panel of Victorian international students were centre stage at this year’s Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) held in Melbourne from 22-25 October.

The panel discussed the theme ‘The Human Element – Navigating Life and Learning as an International Student’ and shared authentic, relatable stories about studying abroad with conference attendees. The session, chaired by Australian journalist Stan Grant, dived into the ups and downs of adapting to a new culture, education system and life in Australia.

Our international student panellists explored how these experiences have shaped their personal growth, academic journeys and future goals. This discussion highlights the powerful connections and impact international students bring to the local Australian community and how studying in Victoria offers unique opportunities for self-discovery, career development, and meaningful cultural exchange.

The panellists were:

  • Dunston Diaz, Current Student | Bachelor of Nursing, Holmesglen Institute
  • Shin Thant (Berry) Eain, Former High School Student, Doncaster Secondary College
  • Stan Grant, Journalist, author and filmmaker
