In October, the Study Melbourne Hub Kuala Lumpur had the pleasure of welcoming esteemed delegates from the Ministry of Education, Innovation & Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD), led by Tuan Haji Adana Bin Haji Jed, Permanent Secretary of MEITD.

We were also honoured to host representatives from Swinburne University of Technology, Kuching, led by Prof. Wallace Wong, CEO of Swinburne Innovation Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

The visit and productive discussion were a testament to the strong bilateral education and skills links between Victoria and Malaysia.

In 2023, there were approximately 9,800 Malaysian student enrolments with Victorian institutions. Victoria ranks as the most popular Australian state for Malaysian students. More than 27% of Malaysia's total student population studying abroad choose Victoria.

At Study Melbourne, we thrive on building connections and fostering conversations with education stakeholders from around the globe. Collaborations like these are essential in expanding our network and enhancing our engagement with key players in the education sector.

Victoria is home to over 230,000 international students, making it a vibrant hub for educational excellence and cultural diversity.

This year, Victoria invested significantly in supporting international students. $24 million was allocated to initiatives to improve student well-being and integration. This includes:

  • enhanced mental health services
  • employment support
  • a dedicated Student Support Program to connect students with local services.

Together, we can shape the future of education!
